Mazda's Zoom Zoom publication has just run a one page on Ross's AZ-1. The AZ-1 is a Kei-Class car built by Mazda in the 90's 660 cc turbocharged engine, 64 ps and 720kg. Lock to lock of 2.2
It is quite interesting for a North American dealer publication to feature a vehicle that is so interesting, and in direct competition to their market. Typically, the NADM opposes imports, and often hides behind the commonly accepted "fact" that RHD is dangerous in a LHD environment. It's obvious to anyone who puts a touch of thought into the issue, that RHD is just a different group of challenges, just like driving a U-Haul, where you can't see anything behind you, except what the mirrors show. Regardless, it's very interesting to see the Zoom Zoom publication feature a RHD specialty car, and I can only hope that it opens more dialogue and friendliness to the import scene in Canada.
