1JZ Meet

This video (set) sparked my imagination when I saw it earlier this year, through Nori Yaro
HoonTV put this together, and Alexi is our guide into a Japanese meet/track day.

Canadian Mazda Dealer Magazine features Ross's AZ-1

Mazda's Zoom Zoom publication has just run a one page on Ross's AZ-1.  The AZ-1 is a Kei-Class car built by Mazda in the 90's 660 cc turbocharged engine, 64 ps and 720kg.  Lock to lock of 2.2

It is quite interesting for a North American dealer publication to feature a vehicle that is so interesting, and in direct competition to their market.  Typically, the NADM opposes imports, and often hides behind the commonly accepted "fact" that RHD is dangerous in a LHD environment.  It's obvious to anyone who puts a touch of thought into the issue, that RHD is just a different group of challenges, just like driving a U-Haul, where you can't see anything behind you, except what the mirrors show.  Regardless, it's very interesting to see the Zoom Zoom publication feature a RHD specialty car, and I can only hope that it opens more dialogue and friendliness to the import scene in Canada.

Ebisu Circuit : RUN THE WALL

Luke Huxham has done it again.

Drift Soarer, straight from Japan

My buddy Griff picked up a Toyota Soarer, straight off the Ebisu Circuit from Powervehicles Japan, earlier this year.  I've had the pleasure of a quick trailer startup, and a look-over, but that's about it.  I was exited to see this clip, even though it's short, and much needs to be done to this car still.  Griff has some pretty serious plans for this beast, so stay tuned! :D

JZX love

FRSEDAN always has great photos of the JZ cars, so make sure you pop over and have a peek. Here's a quick sampling for this week.

Amazing RAUH-Welt film -

Luke Huxham has put together an amazing video showcasing Rauh-Welt Style and capturing the feeling of the track experience.  The sound of the dump at gear change gives me shivers!  Good use of music too.

RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF from Luke Huxham on Vimeo.

RAUH-Welt - from their website:
RWB/RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF is a Porsche tuner located in Japan.
RWB has combined Japanese and Euro tuning elements,
creating the distinct RWB style for Porsche chassis.
Starting off as a small countryside body-shop in Chiba-Ken,
RAUH-Welt 911's are now a common sight on both the streets and racing circuits of Japan.
We create only one RWB Porsche for each customer.
Speedhunters has a great post about a visit to RAUH-Welt here.

2014 Subaru WRX and STi to break away from the Impreza

Not a bad idea for a first post. Anyone who has run into me in the last 5 years or so, has seen me as a hopeless Subaru addict. I've been privileged to have owned 2 legacies and 5 impreza's to date, and all of them have been amazing cars, whether naturally aspirated, base models, or full-on turbo beasts. It appears that Subaru is going to change the WRX and WRX-STi platform, to break it off from the Impreza line, according to Autoblog and Car Advice

Here is a rendering by Motortrend - not really what we can expect, just something to get the mind going:

Most interesting? Perhaps this information from a Subaru spokesman:
"Apart from a few nuts and bolts, every part on the WRX will be unique. Even the engine and body." (the WRX and STi will be) "radically modified and significantly shortened."

As short as a Yaris!

Wow. In reflection, I went in search of the specs, as the Yaris is typically thought of as a really tiny car. It turns out that the first generation of the WRX GC's were really, pretty much the same size as the first gen of the Yaris (or Toyota Vitz). 2" wider, 3" shorter and 30" longer. The STi has grown over the years, but the main difference to dimensions on paper is the weight. Around 300Kg have been added to the weight of the original, rally winning GC8 chassis. The 2011 Sedan is about 11 inches longer, and about 3" wider.

Perhaps what is most shocking is the engine plans. According to the same spokesman, the new engine will be a 1.6L that may put out 200 to 270 hp. Rumours of using a supercharger alongside a turbocharger are floating around as well. Quite strange to anyone familiar with the standard layout of the Subaru Boxer engines of the past.

Korekushon Live!

I've come to the conclusion that there are far too many awesome car related blogs out there. My interests lie mostly with the Japanese scene, and to a smaller degree, European. I willingly admit that I do not have a firm and confident grasp on the car scene, but I know what I like. This blog is presented as a compendium of all the awesome work that real car scene guys are doing, that you may not have a chance to see. Many of us are familiar with 7tune, or Speedhunters, but there is some great work being done by your average enthusiasts too. I will be collating awesome news, photos, videos and thoughts presented by those who have an ability to be awesome. If you have any suggestions of blogs I should look at, then please, drop me an email at visuals3d@gmail.com, or post a comment.

Korekushon is a Japanese pronunciation of collection. Now you know!
